What do people want to see in central Ealing?
A survey into the facilities for arts and culture in Ealing was carried out for Ealing Arts + Leisure in 2000. Since then, part of the centre has been designated in the borough plan as a "cultural quarter". But what should go into that cultural area?
CEPAC urged for a long time for a new survey to be carried out into the need, scope and level of support for a multi-purpose facility for a performance arts centre This was needed to provide a firm base for a development to meet the needs both of local residents and visitors from the wider surrounding area. Our proposal was backed by the Central Ealing Neighbourhood Forum, which represents residents, community organisations and local businesses. Following a successful application for a government grant and fund raising by CEPAC, a survey was carried out in the summer of 2013 by the professional firm Purple Marketing, with the aim of establishing a basis for achieving the borough's plan to establish Ealing as "a leading West London centre for the arts, heritage and culture". You can see a summary of the results here. CEPAC subsequently commissioned a feasibility study of how to translate the needs identified in the demand survey into a viable project..
